Review: A beautiful view of the old Havenhurst dam on
Little Sugar Creek at this "Casual fine dining"
establishment. A rather limited menu compared to most
places. Not much of a choice of veggies, and the salad is
filled with fancy types of leafy greens that not everyone
enjoys... (I wish they
offered plain ol' iceberg as an option!) I will
caution readers that some of the seafood sauces are
definately for "experienced and rarefied palates."
However, the steaks are just excellent. Prices are
comparably upscale, but then again so is the food, so it
isn't out of line ($10-$20 range for dinner, lunch
sandwiches about half that.) Delicious Crème brûlée. The closest thing our county has to fine dining anymore... Good place to impress a date. They now have a separate bar area next door, if you're more interested in just having a drink or three instead of a meal. |

Review: I can't say enough good things about this wonderful brewery. (Mostly because I sometimes work for them, so I'm obviously biased!) But still, check their Facebook reviews if you don't trust mine... They really are the friendliest brewery you're ever likely to find... There's 16 TAPS of their own various brews - a huge selection for a brewery of this size... And the beer is really outstandingly good. The brewmisstress is a two-time winner of the U.S. Beer Open Championship, and she specializes in making even gluten free beers taste amazing! All the "Dark Hills Brewery" labeled taps are gluten free, so if you're gluten intolerant you'll know exactly which ones are safe to sample. Typical bar food available on weekends, free popcorn and bar snacks available all the time. A personal favorite! |

Review: For years Cotton-Eyed Joe's has been considered Noel's finest restaurant, and perhaps the best in the entire county. The BBQ is excellent, and all the home-style sides are prepared right. There is occasionally a buffet available with a great selection of meats, sides, and desserts; and if this is your first visit I'd recommend it so you can sample all they have to offer. The place is nicely decorated, with a comfy country atmosphere. Very family-friendly, and tourists are welcome too. Also a favorite for entertaining business clients with our "country charm" and for business lunch meetings (a large room is available). A personal favorite. |

Review: Authentic Mexican food and
the prices are very reasonable. The authentic tacos are excellent! Best El Pastor Tacos in the area. Topped with onions and cilantro - and a lime wedge to squeeze over it all to bring out the flavor... Mmmmmmmmmmmm Good! If you've never had these, give them a try... Even though they're very different from what we've become used to as Americanized "tacos." (Like your food spicy? Try the red or green sauce they supply with most orders!) Now serving complementary chips and delicious salsa. Most days only the owner is running the front of the resturant, so if you need something during your meal don't be shy about going up to the counter and ringing the bell for service. CASH ONLY. Review: Shadow
Lake is a Noel tradition going back about 75 years. It has
changed many times over, from an old-fashioned resort to
the night-club hot-spot is is today. Shadow Lake is one of
the biggest party spots in the 4-State area, and is
something of a "meat market" for youngish, drunken campers
to mingle and dance with youngish, drunken visitors from
all over the area. If
you are looking for "the wild party place" you've
heard of in Noel, this is it. *Note about "Teen Night" - on Thursdays during the season, Shadow Lake is open as a dance club to TEENS ONLY. No alcoholic beverages are served that night (obviously), there's no smoking, and adults are not admitted. |

Review: Never mind all the "You might
be a Redneck if..." jokes scratched on the wall in Sharpie
marker, 'cause you'll find the Redneck Restaurant
is one of the best places to eat in the county. It is
not a fancy place by any means... Sometimes they have
a buffet with lots of good southern-style choices,
such as: Fried Chicken, Pork Chops in gravy, Fried
Catfish, and more, with all the salad and sides you'll
need. The quality
of the food is exceptional, and the desserts are truly
wonderful. (Best Banana Puddin' in the county!) There is
usually a selection of Sugar-Free desserts too, for those
that need 'em. And even though most of the patrons are local, you'll find the service friendly no matter who you are. Even Yankees are tolerated if they keep their traps shut and don't try to tell anyone "how they do it up nawth!" *Not open every day, and not open for dinner some days. Call ahead! Recommended.
